For a lot of business owners and CEO’s it’s tough out there. I’m right there in the same boat. But what will make the difference from thriving to being out of business is having a growth mindset.
What is a growth mindset?
For starters, strong leadership, continual learning, and innovation are critical to thriving in business today. Everyone is worried. Your employees, your spouse, your family members and their family members. Being a positive and strong leader will do wonders for morale.
Leadership and learning must trickle down throughout your business in order for your business to really progress. Although this often starts at the top, it must continue on throughout your entire business.
A Fixed Mindset May End Your Business
I don’t mean for this to sound so dramatic or doom-and-gloom, but it really is quite true most of the time.
A fixed mindset is the opposite of a growth mindset and does not encourage any of the above mentioned. It does not allow employees to grow or even more important breed new leaders. Less risk-taking, less freedom, less collaboration, and less acceptance of failure – are all a culprit of a fixed mindset. And like I already said, can be detrimental to business.
Try Not To Focus On Lack
When all you focus on is the current environment and how your business is barely surviving if not close to shutting the doors, it is critical to focus on possibly pivoting or changing direction to weather the storm and come out ahead when this blows over. And like everything it will blow over.
I heard a very successful CEO say something that was profound to me at the time.
“You can’t save your way to success“.
In every downturn there are more millionaires created than any other time. There is opportunity all around us if we broaden our vision and just look.
Marketing Is Critical
Without visibility and awareness, your business will have a very difficult time competing in any local market. Everyone in your niche is competing for the same customers/clients. The business that focuses on marketing even during tough times will dominate.
I don’t know about you but I happen to be a huge fan of Amazon. And I’m hoping you’ve heard of Jeff Bezo’s the CEO. IMHO he will go down as one of the most successful CEO’s in the history of the world.
Why do I tell you this? He said a very profound statement and knowing it’s coming from a highly credible CEO like him, you should take notice.
“The business that’s willing to invest the most to acquire a customer wins!” – Jeff Bezo
This was another profound business statement…as it usually rings true. When you look at the top business in every industry large and small they are the ones putting themselves out there (marketing) the most. It’s no secret what it takes to be the leader in your sector.

Why Consider A Growth Marketer
There are thousands of small businesses who could use a CMO or Marketing Manager, but are in between in regards to budget. In comes the Virtual (Remote) Growth Marketer.
Why hire a growth marketer is because you are not having to pay a full time salary, nor are you having to pay benefits, but you are getting a seasoned veteran for pennies on the dollar.
Growth Marketers like myself have over 20 years of experience to bring to your business. Hiring a young, college graduate in-house would mean you are paying them to learn their job.
